Abstract

Climate change has played a crucial role in agricultural productivity, and among the factors that influence maize production, climate and water availability stand out as the most important. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence maize production in the district of Mocuba. This research uses time series data from 2014-2023, representing 10 years. A multiple regression model was estimated based on the MQO method. The results of the research indicate that, on average, corn production showed significant growth rates over the period under analysis, peaking in 2022 with 116,100 tons in an area of 57,400 ha and temperature and rainfall of 25 °C and 560.2 mm, respectively. The regression model estimated was statistically significant and the determining factors in corn production were the production area and rainfall, with a positive variation of 1 ha and 1 mm in the production area and rainfall increasing corn production by 2.8 and 22.98 ha, respectively. It is therefore recommended that producers increase production areas and irrigate production in the absence of rainfall when needed.
