The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of Bacterial Vaginosis in women of childbearing age treated at the Kwanza Norte Maternal and Child Hospital between October 2023 and March 2024. The methodology adopted was a descriptive cross-sectional observational study, with a quantitative approach, using diagnostic, statistical and mathematical methods to obtain and analyze the data. The results showed that of the 482 patients evaluated, 196 (41%) tested positive for Bacterial Vaginosis, while 286 (59%) had negative results. In terms of age distribution, the 17-20 and 29-32 age groups had the highest incidence, with 29 cases each (18%). The peak was in January 2024, with 45 cases (22.9%), followed by December 2023, with 38 cases (19.3%). As for the origin of the patients, the Imbondeiros and Sambizanga neighborhoods were the most affected, with 21 (10.7%) and 18 cases (9.3%), respectively, while the Carreira de Tiro and Estação neighborhoods had the lowest numbers, with 6 cases each (3%). Among the types of vaginal infections, Bacterial Vaginosis was the most prevalent, with 116 cases (59%), followed by Candidiasis (45 cases; 23%) and Vaginal Trichomoniasis (35 cases; 18%). It can be concluded that Bacterial Vaginosis represents a significant public health problem, requiring preventive measures and effective control strategies.
