Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the development of society and the unification of human beings, with a particular focus on Uíge Province, Angola

Abstract

This article analyzes the positive and negative impacts of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on the development of society and the unification of human beings, with a particular focus on the province of Uíge, Angola. ICTs have played a vital role in addressing contemporary challenges by enabling the creation of platforms and computerized systems aimed at scientific, educational, and social advancement. The digital transformation driven by these technologies has significantly altered communication, work, and human relationships, overcoming physical and geographical barriers and fostering real-time interaction among people from different backgrounds. Based on a quantitative approach, the research was conducted through semi-structured questionnaires applied to the population of the province, aiming to understand how ICTs influence daily life, interpersonal relationships, socioeconomic opportunities, and access to knowledge. The results confirm that, despite challenges such as limited infrastructure and high costs, ICTs have strong potential to promote digital inclusion, enhance the quality of education, and drive local development. The study also highlights the need for public policies and educational strategies that strengthen access to and integration of ICTs across various sectors of society as a means of reducing inequalities and fostering sustainable development.
