Financial trends and challenges facing Angolan telecommunications operators in the new digital era. Case: UNITEL vs AFRICELL (2021 - 2022)

Abstract

This article whose theme is “Financial trends and challenges in Angolan telecommunications operators in the new digital era. Case: UNITEL vs AFRICELL (2021 - 2022)”. Information and communication technologies, “ICT” appear as one of the increasingly necessary factors to accompany the phenomena resulting from the processes of innovation and development brought about by the changes of the 4th revolution that we are witnessing at the level of large global economies, where the national context of investments, services and solutions, must be aligned with the objectives defined in national development plans and programs, for economic development, improvement of the social and cultural conditions of citizens and the business environment. Bibliographical research was used, which helped in the development of keywords that were part of the theoretical foundation thanks to the publication of several authors who dealt with the same concepts and historical method that facilitated us in obtaining information regarding the historical emergence of the same operators and the descriptive with qualitative and quantitative approach. The techniques used that facilitated the operation of the same methods were documentary, which helped in the search for information contained in the INACOM and MINTTICS reports, and statistics, which facilitated the creation of tables and graphs contained in the article. Likewise, the evolution of market shares in terms of customers was analyzed during the biennial period under study, where it was found that UNITEL remains the leader in the sector in the order of 72% of subscribers in relation to AFRICELL, which holds 24 % of users since it only operates in three of the country's eighteen provinces.
