Abstract

This article seeks to reflect on the dialogical relationship between educational management and teaching quality during the pandemic period of 2020 at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEG) of the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UPM). It was born out of a set of challenges that plagued higher education institutions in the country when teaching activities were interrupted as a result of the public calamity created by the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the world. Understanding that the quality of teaching is a present and current requirement in our context, where there is a significant opening up and massification of higher education, educational management requires from institutional leaders a democratic attitude capable of responding without hesitation to the complex dimension of institutions and thus satisfying demands such as community participation, infrastructural and material conditions, training and pedagogical environment. In response to this question, we sought to understand from the FEG's top management the main actions and measures that have been taken by this organisational unit of UPM to ensure success, even when faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.   On the one hand, the research was based on qualitative and quantitative methods in order to better reflect educational management and teaching quality at the FEG. Its methodological support is based on the interpretive-naturalistic paradigm of a quantitative-qualitative nature, which was translated into the carrying out and content analysis of semi-structured interviews, google forms, the use of whatsap platforms, google-meet, typical of the times in which we live. The results revealed that even in a context of shortages and lack of resources, once participation is open to all, despite the complexity surrounding management processes, especially for public institutions that are governed by central rules and guidelines issued by the government, it makes a significant contribution to quality teaching.
