Abstract

The teaching and learning process in the health sector highlights professional training that promotes the quality of care provided by health professionals, with an emphasis on technical and scientific skills, safeguarding ethical skills. The present work aimed to analyze the level of perception of students from two health technician training schools in Angola regarding professional attitudes in a learning environment. The students' perception was assessed through the administration of a questionnaire aimed at 179 students from the Clinical Analysis and Public Health courses, Clinical Analysis, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Radiology. The predominant age group is between 20 and 30 years old, with regard to students' perception of unprofessional behavior in the learning environment, as is the case of carrying out small procedures consented to by the patient, but without supervision, whose participation rate was 26.4%, 37.8% of those interviewed reported having arrived late to class, 45.7% of students have failed to correct someone who mistook them for a doctor, 44.8% admitted to having been introduced to patients as a doctor, % perform procedures above their level of skills and 50% admitted to having a competitive attitude towards their colleagues. The unprofessional behaviors that a number of students reported in clinical settings are concerning, such as performing procedures above their skill level and without supervision, arriving late to classes, discussing clinical cases in public, belittling patients, and using incomprehensible language.
