Development of a mobile application for consulting the rules and statutes of Kimpa Vita University

Abstract

This article presents the development of a mobile application designed for consulting the rules and statutes of Kimpa Vita University. The project emerged as a response to the need to modernize and facilitate access to institutional documents that guide the academic and administrative functioning of the university, particularly for students, faculty members, and the internal legal structure. The proposed solution aims to provide an accessible, practical, and efficient digital tool that enables quick and organized consultation of institutional regulations, contributing to transparency and autonomy within the academic community. The methodology adopted included bibliographic research, document analysis, and the administration of surveys to key users of the normative content, namely students, professors from the Faculty of Law, and members of the Rectorate’s Legal Office. The data collection aimed to identify the needs, expectations, and suggestions of the target audience regarding the application's functionality and usability. The insights obtained were essential in defining the requirements and designing the application’s interface. The solution was developed using cross-platform mobile technologies, focusing on a user-friendly interface, clear categorization of documents, an efficient search system, and offline access capabilities. Initial tests indicated strong user acceptance, with particular appreciation for the ease of navigation and the tool’s usefulness in daily academic routines. In conclusion, the application developed represents a significant step forward in the digitization of Kimpa Vita University's institutional regulations and may be expanded in the future with features such as regulatory update notifications and integration with the academic portal. This work underscores the importance of technology as an ally in university management and access to information.
