Towards Innovation and Sustainability: Celebrating Academic Collaboration at the VIII International Symposium on Economics and Management of RIAL
It is with immense satisfaction that we present Issue 7, Volume 2 of ALBA - ISFIC Research and Science Journal. This edition is a milestone, as it follows the VI International Symposium on Economics and Management of RIAL (International Academic Network of Lusophony), an event that, from June 25th to 28th, 2024, transformed the vibrant environment of the Federal Institute of Paraná, on the Foz do Iguaçu Campus, Brazil, into an epicenter of thought and innovation.
The symposium, held under the motto "For an integrated, innovative higher education oriented towards the sustainable development of communities," was not just a declaration of intent, but a strong call to action. This motto resonated in all sessions and debates, inspiring the 56 articles that make up this volume. This reinforces our conviction that higher education and scientific research have a fundamental role in building a more sustainable future, where the circular economy and social inclusion go hand in hand.
Each of the works published here is the result of tireless dedication and exemplary scientific rigor. The articles, presented and debated during the VI Symposium, explore a diverse range of topics: from the optimization of sustainable value chains and waste management to the impact of digital technologies on the circular economy and the role of public policies in promoting social inclusion. The depth and relevance of the research demonstrate the vitality and cutting-edge nature of the field of Economics and Management today.
As editors, João Samartinho, Rodrigues Zicai Fazenda, and Rogério Fernandes Romão, we are honored to highlight that this edition is a testament to the intellectual richness that flourishes from international collaboration. RIAL, by uniting academics from different Portuguese-speaking regions, proves that the exchange of ideas and the building of bridges are the engine of progress. The symposium was more than just a platform for presenting research; it was an ecosystem for creating new connections, strengthening ties, and incubating projects that will undoubtedly shape the future of knowledge.
We believe that the articles in this issue of ALBA - ISFIC Research and Science Journal will offer our readers valuable insights and innovative perspectives. May these contributions inspire new research, foster scientific dialogue, and reinforce the commitment of higher education in Portuguese-speaking countries to a more innovative, circular, and, above all, inclusive future.
Enjoy your reading!
